Preparation

Right I am going to build a Kit Car but have no where to build it. Better build a garage then!

mmmm.....drive is 49ft long, I need to leave room for a car on the drive. Say 17ft, OK a 32ft by 10ft garage it is.

Work started on the garage in April 2000, this coincided with me also looking for a Cosworth engine but luckily having a family of builders helped matters quite a bit.

The Garage was not to be brick built as I did not have the money for such a structure but a brick / wood structure was more to my liking. Very much like a glorified carport.

Due to work commitments, I was finding it hard to keep on schedule with the garage build and my family only helped with the structural parts. In the end it took until August to get the garage complete, just in time for picking up the Chassis.

The garage was kitted with the standard workshop basics, a vice, a pillar drill, bench grinder, plenty of bench space, plenty of shelving, lots of lighting, lots of power sockets, separate socket for welder, oh and the TIG welder to go along with it. The reason for the TIG welder will soon become apparent :D

Ah but I have not welded in years and have never used a TIG before. I'd better do a refresher course and make sure I get some TIG experience. Luckily the local College did an evening course in car repair and restoration, which included as much welding as you could endure.
